Your photos.
Your choice.
This policy covers the Car IRL app and this support website, operated by Oleksandr Gorpynich. For privacy questions or requests, contact oleksandr.gorpynich@gmail.com.
Information we process
- Account information: your account identifier, sign-in information, and the name and email provided through Sign in with Apple, which may be an Apple private relay address.
- Your collection: uploaded photos, descriptions, sighting times, selected vehicles, AI results and corrections, collection progress, and profile settings. Images may contain people, license plates, or embedded metadata; avoid uploading information you do not want processed.
- Community activity: posts you choose to publish, display names, likes, public-profile information, blocks, and reports.
- Purchase information: subscription product and transaction identifiers, purchase and expiration dates, and subscription status. Apple processes payments; we do not receive your full card number.
- Service and security information: request timestamps, errors, processing time, AI usage and cost records, and information used for rate limits and abuse prevention. Hosting and service providers may process IP addresses and device or browser information in operational logs.
- Support correspondence: information you choose to send when contacting us.
How we use it
We use this information to authenticate you, sync your collection, identify cars, provide optional community features, manage subscriptions and classification allowances, respond to support requests, and keep the service secure and reliable. Classification results may be cached to avoid repeated processing.
Photos and AI processing
When you authorize AI identification, your photo is uploaded to our backend and sent to OpenAI for analysis. You can choose manual selection instead. We also use automated checks for content submitted to the community; photos and descriptions may be sent to OpenAI for moderation. AI processing does not itself publish your photo. Car IRL stores identification results and operational records needed to provide the service.
Third-party processors apply their own service retention and security practices. This policy does not promise zero retention by those providers. Read OpenAI’s privacy information for more about its practices.
Private by default, sharing by choice
Your collection is private by default. If you publish a sighting, other community users can see its photo, caption, car information, display name, and relevant profile information. Making your profile public is a separate choice and can expose collection summary information. Blocking limits interactions in the app but cannot undo screenshots, downloaded copies, or information already seen by others. Previously issued image links can remain usable until they expire.
Service providers and disclosure
We use Supabase for authentication, database storage, and photo storage; OpenAI for AI analysis and moderation; RevenueCat for subscription management; and Apple for sign-in, distribution, and payments. Our website host processes requests needed to deliver these pages. Providers may process information in countries other than your own.
We may disclose information where necessary to comply with law, protect users and the service, or handle a business transfer subject to appropriate safeguards. We do not sell personal information or use your uploaded photos for targeted advertising. This website does not include advertising or analytics scripts.
Retention and deletion
We retain account content while needed to provide your account and collection. You can delete sightings, remove shared posts, or delete your account in the app. Account deletion removes associated account content and photos from active systems and requests deletion of the related RevenueCat customer. Backups, provider logs, legal or security records, and non-identifying aggregate usage or cost records may persist for their applicable retention periods. Apple retains purchase records under its own policies.
Deletion does not cancel an Apple subscription. Cancel it separately in Apple subscription settings.
Your choices and requests
You can decline camera or photo access, choose manual identification, keep your profile private, choose which sightings to share, and delete your account. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your information, object to certain processing, or complain to a privacy authority. Email us to exercise these rights; we may verify your identity before acting.
Children and sensitive information
Car IRL is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action. Do not upload sensitive personal documents or photos that violate someone else’s privacy.
Policy changes
We may update this policy as the service changes. The date above identifies the latest version. Material changes will be communicated where required.
